  • Last week saw the inaugural Turnitin Irish User Group meeting at the National College of Ireland in Dublin, and PlagiarismAdvice.org also had a stand at the EdTech conference over the following two days.

Around 20 attendees from Institutions across Ireland were present at the User Group. Presentations from various institutions on their use of Turnitin were all well received and a good discussion concerning various models of use ensued. From our point of view, it was interesting to compare how the question of plagiarism was being addressed in Ireland compared to the UK. We also discussed the setting up of a forum for Irish users similar to that for UK users.

The EdTech conference was also a very well run event with some good Keynote speakers. From our perspective, it was great to put some faces to names at last! We also got the chance to show our new Moodle plug-in to various people, which received a great deal of interest.  Overall, a very enjoyable, well organised event that we will be certainly attending again in future years.
