Resources for schools

The following exercises are designed to help teachers/lecturers of those in the 14 – 19 educational sector address the issue of  academic honesty including plagiarism and/or collusion with students.

The “Identifying Plagiarism and Collusion” Quiz allows teachers to find out entry level behaviour of students in relation to their knowledge and understanding of the issues of plagiarism and collusion, as well as introducing the Harvard Referencing System.

“Collusion and Plagiarism” can be used either as a starter exercise to broach the area of academic honesty, or as a follow-on to check students knowledge and understanding after undertaking other exercises.

“Academic Integrity Scenarios” provides a tick-box exercise where students can decide whether the scenarios gives are acceptable or unacceptable to examination boards and universities, or to decide whether more information is needed to make a decision.  They may be used as an introduction to the subject, to check knowledge and understanding after discussion with students or, alternatively, as an exercise where students need to be independent enquirers and find out the information for themselves.
